    Installing Headers $$$?

LT Pacesetter Headers. Relocating the facotry cats to a custom Y-pipes. He price matched the Pacesetter and custom y-pipe with any price I found online. Total cost, $1300. Labor + Parts.

    Good deal??

Aslo, the tune is going to cost $650, which is about a 2 day tune, but it comes out perfect and lifetime tune included. It's pretty pricy, but the tune is done by a Corvette guy whos been tuning for 25 years.

Holy shit.. I spent 650 shipped for my PS headers, True Duals, and subframes and installed them myself. And $650 for a tune? That seems REALLY steep! Up to you man.. but Headers are not that hard to install.. I'd keep the extra 600 for other things myself....

I wish I could do the work myself. Small one car garage, and my housing community does not allow any type of engine work. I barely get away changing my oil and regular maint.

Did mine in a one car garage... couldnt' even open the door halfway..... they don't allow engine work??? Sounds weird.. but this TECHNICALLY isn't engine work.. its exhaust work. Just need a couple wrenches, a friend to help hold the headers, and some time... Like I said... its all on how much you have and are willing to spend.

ah, but it's not engine work, it's exhaust work...

also, $650 bucks for a tune is crazy. mine was either $350 or $400 for my HP Tune...

Yup.. As far as $$, I'd spend it to have someone who is experience in installing F-body headers and having complaints from the neighbors. They already gave a fuss when I was detailing the car.

Sounds like you need to move man! Wait till you actually get some work done.. they'll be yelling at you for waking them up when you get home... (I've heard from one neighbor I'm his 6 a.m. alarm... )

Condo. I have an exhaust and they know I have the car, but it's my daily driver so no complaints about coming home late/leaving early.

sucks that you have such worthless neighbors man. their lives must be so boring that complaining about something must make their day...

i have always believed that there are more important things in life to devote time to, than to the sound of a car that you might hear at most 2 times a day for less than 30 seconds...

Do you come off as a dick or a punk kid to them? Maybe if you say hey, or offer to help them out or something, they would be a little more leanient?

No - I am pretty professional when I talk to them. They like me, but our community rules are pretty strict about noise and automotive work.

Anyway, back to the topic, good deal for the install?

If you like spending 150+ per hour on labor...then sure....But I would find a place to do it myself.. but ultimately it comes down to what you want to do. Anyone else wanna chime in here?

I am going to call up my cousin. Maybe I will take it over there, and he would be the only person I would trust to help out with this kind of install. He works on VWs and has a hous with a fat garage -- got to love land values in the O.C.

SO if he's the only person you trust.. why were you going to give it to a guy that was going to rape you? But I think its a wise decision... 600 is half the cost of decent heads!

I trust my exhaust shop 100%. If i were to do any work on my car, I would only ask my cousin for help.

As far as $650 for install, he would need to relocate the cats, which involves welding and custom y-pips to fit and I don't have the tools for that or want to take the chance of spending more $$ if I fuck something else.

Oh.. figured since you said you have an exhaust.. that you already had a cat back.. if there is custom work involved.. thats a whole nother story....

Yeah. I need the factory cats to stay on b/c of Cali's Emission laws. This is the pain I have to go through to have LT headers...
