idle at 1600 after new tb
I put a ported throttle body on my car about a week ago and now it idles around 1600 sitting still (my car is a manual), ocasionally it will fall to 1000 but not very often. when going down the road and holding the clutch in it will idle around 1800-1900, I do not think that I have a vaccum leak and I replaced the tps last friday, and tried adjusting the screw on the tb tonight. I do not know what else to check, can anyone help me?

How many miles since the change?
The PCM will adjust for new airflow...and it may idle high for 75-80 miles.
If it stays...it could be a minor vacuum leak.

I had planned on getting it tuned with my tax money as soon as I get it back, would the be able to still tune it right with it idling like this, my gas mileage since putting my bolt ons has dropped alot, I get like 75 miles to half a tank now.

How is the performance? Seem lacking??
Sounds like maybe there is a leak in that case. Bolt-ons shouldn't drop mileage that bad.
My stroker (heads/large cam) gets 200 a tank.

not really, the idling is all im having trouble with, I can rev it up while idling and it falls normal back to 1600

sounds to me like there is additional air getting around the throttle blade. (happens sometimes with knife edged throttle plates) either that or the set screw is adjusted way wrong on the new TB. Who ported it?

I tried to plug the hole in the blade last night and that seemed to lower the rpms back down to normal, would it hurt anything to leave the hole plugged off?

I had the same guy port mine, although it took forever to get back from him and just bad customer service. The throttle body came out ok, i didnt notice any difference from before and not really even quicker throttle response as i was expecting but im sure it did some good just not much that i can feel. Sounds like he polished it too close to the blades, have you contacted him? let him know and see what he can do for you maybe he can send another one out to you. If that one works well just send him back the one you got.

^^^ I'm with him, see if you can get another TB off the guy. It sounds like he took to much material the blade itself, or the area around where the throttle blade seats. If its idling normal when you plug up the whole in the throttle plate, that means additional air is getting in somehow.

if too much air was getting past w/ throttle blade closed, your rpm would drop real slow back to idle (or noticeably slower than it did w/ stock TB).

I emailed him and he said he could send me a throttle plate out of a corvette throttle body that has no hole in it.

Mine has a whole in it and i have no issues and sending a throttle plate that has no hole in it is just not the way to resolve it. Atleast i dont think so, he should send you another TB ported with working sensors, then try it out if it works fine you send him back the crappy one he sent you.

did you try adjusting the throttle stop screw? small allen head screw that comes up from under the throttle stop, might just need to turn turn it out 1/2- 1 turn
