    hole in hose

ok so here is my delimma as I was doing a little bit of my checks today under the hood and heard a suction noise that drowned out the sound of the actual intake and found the hose in the picture has a hole in it, the hole is actually on the bottom of the hose so i covered it up with my fingers and the car started to die out on me. Does anybody know what this hose is, I was thinking it had something to do with the egr, can anybody lead me in the right direction and how important it is cause I dont wanna drive my car and screw anything else up.

    Thanks,

That hose is part of the PCV system, doesn't have anything to do with the EGR.

I cleaned it with brake parts cleaner, then WD-40 it and haven't had a problem with it. Rockautoparts still sells them. I think they're actually on sale right now.

If it has been leaking for a while, the PCM has "learned" the mixture with the extra air. Fix it and do the idle relearn, it should be fine.
