help please with header install
hey guys, im putting on a pair of long tubes right now and i've come to a problem. its been a great 3 hours until i had to take off the 3 bolts on each y-pipe connection to the exhaust manifold. They are rusted shut. i tried wd-40, liquid wrench, torching it, even pepsi. i tried to get it off with a wratchet and a pole on the end and it split the wratchet, along with 2 sockets... any suggestions would be very much appreciated. thanks

Spray the hell out of it with wd-40/Liquid wrench and let it stand for a few hours and try again, it will come. Good luck -Dave

yeah i attempted that, but i can't get the angle because its a reach into the engine compartment from under the car... theres just not enough room.. so right now its soaking in more wd-40 and im about to go buy more sockets lol

Breaker Bar
After letting them soak for a day they still woundn't break loose. I switched from 3/8" drive to 1/2" and a breaker bar with long extension and busted them free first time.

Borrow a compressor and impact gun and break them bad boys off. I used air and only one of the bolts actually came off, the other studs broke.

If you get the compressor, youre gonna wish you had done it sooner. It takes two seconds to take them off with the impact.

Spray em down and tap em w/ a hammer... The vibrations make the liquid go into every nook and cranny. You can also cut em off w/ a sawzall.

You'll get tired of open headers real quick. Too friggin loud. You'll have a headache when you get done driving it. But it is fun as hell the first time you take it out with open headers.
