hey, if you have a jack, 2 jackstands a couple of sockets and afew hours you can do it your self. header install is pretty easy... it only took an hour and half for me to do my goat and I had to drop the rack ( I don't think you have to drop the rack on an F-body)

if you were closer to the bay area, i would help you out.

its pretty straight forward install, no unbolting the motor/kmember.

1)remove coil packs, wires, spark plugs
    2)disconnect air/egr tubes from manifolds
3)unblolt/cut stock exhaust off from below the cats
    4) remove the front/rear 02s
    5) unbolt header bolts
    6) slide out from under car (very tall jackstands come in handy for this)
    7) slide new headers in from under, and put the bolts/gaskets in
    8) reverse procedure for everything else

should be about 6-8 hr job.

Remove the dipstick and starter as well, but you nailed it otherwise.

    starter?

i did mine in 3 hours on my SS with it on a lift.

a 1/4" air ratchet makes the process 100 times easier.

Since you were on a lift, you probably didn't need the extra clearance. If you are on the ground with jackstands, most people have to remove the starter to get the passenger header slid in.

Makes it SOO much easier!!! I helped a buddy do his and had to leave to go to work and I was like "don't forget to put your dipstick back in." He forgot and took it for a spin, then got back and it was smokin like a MOFO haha!

I had the air tools but only have a pad poured in the garage right now big enough to put 2 jackstands on. I had to lay in the corse damp gravel when I did my headers

At this height I did not have to remove my starter. I put in Kooks LT's and they slid right in with no problems.

I did mine in the driveway. I did not remove the starter. The drivers side is a tighter fit. Most of the time the passenger side will slide right in if you have the car up high enough.

Oh and to answer your original question. I have pretty much heard nothing but ridiculous prices to install headers on an LS1 F-Body. From $600 to $1000. Your probably not going to find anyone to do it cheap. If you are handy get a buddy and do it yourself.

There is a great shop in western NC that does them for $200. I recommend to ask around to guys who mod their cars in your area and you may find a good shop to do it cheaper.

Of course, putting them on yourself is not too hard if you do your homework
