    Question Headers Help

Thanks in advance to anyone who replys, I appreciate any help I can get here as I know LS1.com is extremely helpful...
Hey guys, I just re-registered for this forum because i forgot my old name/pw from like a year ago but i need some help...I want to do some basic mods to my 2002 WS6 (which has some basic mods already) and want some opinions/information. I've been looking for mid-length/LT headers for some time now and I still don't know what brand to go with. I've heard some negative things about MAC mid-lengths but they're in my price range for the whole package. I am also considering Hooker LT's but don't know what cats to get (especially b/c i'm in California) or a y-pipe that will fit. I know QTP and Kooks will be way too expensive even though they are apparently the best on the market. I def. want some heat coating on whatever brand i get.
Are MAC mid-lengths good? Or should I find a decent pair of LT's? I want to get the headers/cats/ypipe all for $1000 or so, not too much more. I'm also about to purchase a PRO 5.0 shifter (read great reviews about it) and GW double-bearing LCA's (same). Are those 2 products good investments at this stage of modding?

If anyone is interested I have my mod list/lots of pics at my cardomain site but can't post a link yet, but this is kind of it, haha:

    Thanks again!

Many people will tell you not to waste your time with mid-length headers, especially on a 2002 that has some of the best flowing factory manifolds.

Anyone who has modded an f-body in Cali will best be able to tell you what you can get by with as far as converters. I don't thonk you can technically replace any exhaust component that moves the converters from the stock location, but then again...

    i agree
i have mac mids myself and they are really good
the package came with a catted y-pipe all for around $800 shipped
i dont know about others, but the MAC mids are considered long tubes on many sites
they say the gain difference between the average longtubes and MAC midlengths is not worth the extra money for longtubes
i have heard this on this site many times so dont think im making this up
    hope this helps

Thanks for the help guys, I guess I will still considered MAC but i also started looking at Hooker headers because of the pricing. I can't seem to find cats/y-pipe that will compliment the Hooker LTs, other LTs simply come in a complete package, oh well. Any cons to PRO 5.0/PRO 5.0 short shift kits? If i get a new shifter it will probably be that or a B&M ripper, not sure yet. Thanks again!

I just bought and installed the supermaxx headers, $1320 delivered. I know they are $300 over your desired spending limit but it's all stainless and fits like a glove. It also comes with everything needed except a clamp for the ypipe to catback connection.

Where did you get coated pacesetters/y-pipe for cheaper at? and did that include cats. or no?

actually...i was just looking at the supermaxx system and i'm really liking it. I know LTs are illegal in california but it is very tempting, they look amazing!! I have to do some thinking about this and am still probably going to install a shifter/LCA's first. after that, headers are mandatory.

    thanks guys!
