headers: anything i need to know?
well i am done with the headers now!!! i started at 8:30 at night, and got done at 4:50 this morning! so my egr pipe wouldnt fit right, so i heated it, and bent it to fit. then i found out that putting spark plugs and wires back on was a bitch! and now i have dangling rear o2 sensors, do i unplug them, or just ziptie them up?
im about to dig into my engine bay to put in my new headers, anything i need to know that might cause me some trouble? im new at thisLast edited by harri_z28; 09-29-2008 at 01:58 AM. Reason: im done with the install

Patience, PB Blaster, and a friend should do the trick. Also. try taking off the coil packs for more room getting to your header bolts.

I used gm gaskets, that's what everyone recommends. I took the coil packs off the passengers side only.

The metal GM gaskets are like $25, definately the best quality. I installed headers with the coilpacks still on, but you will save your knuckles if you take them off :-).

I had to loosen the motor mount on the driver side to get my pacesetters to fit. I agree with the others on the GM steel gaskets def worth the extra money. Goodluck

yeah, i got that done now. but the driver side y-pipe is hitting the car and making that knocking noise, so i guess i need to get bump stops huh? how do they install? clamps?

any good shops around your area? I'd use a sharpie pen and mark the pipe where its hitting, or even close to hitting, pop it off and have a shop with a bender tweak it alittle for you.
if you take the pipe in with it marked good it should only cost a couple bucks to get them to do the tweaking to it

well i think its a little more then just a bend or a tweak... it seems like its almost all the way up against it. iv heard people using bump stops... is bending and tweaking a better option?
