    Headers

What are the best headers for the money? And do they make a big difference?

Not much difference between all the headers longtubes. You're just paying for the quality/fitment of the headers for the expensive ones.

Pacesetters are the best bang for your buck header, but I think I'll save a few extra pennies and get either QTP LT's or Kooks LT's. I've heard nothing but good things about the pacesetters which cause half the price of QTP's and Kooks headers. QTP and Kooks are the cream of the crop for LS1's. Stay away from SLP LT's, as they have clearence issues.

You can expect roughly a 30+ horsepower and torque increase. Oh yeah add a 3 inch electric cutout to the intermediate pipe and that MF will scream.

I'd at twin cutouts right after the collectors. So loud, your ears will bleed.
I didn't put the y-pipe on my pacesetter LT's for a few days, and the cars next to me vibrated. Loudest thing I ever heard come from a street car.

I bet, I think when I finally get my LT's and cut out on, I will be like a kid in the candy store.

IMO, fitment means a world of importance when it comes to headers, and remember, you get what you pay for, and NOTHING more.

I agree, fitment is important when it comes to installing longtubes. They can be a bitch, as anyone whose done an install on these cars knows well.

Install depends on experience and tools. It will go much faster with a lift, but a lift isn't necessary. My Z was down for 2 weeks for the header install. I could only work on it off and on between school and work. But I also have a daily driver, so I didn't need the maro. Space is cramped and it takes patience.

Pacesetter's make emissions longtube headers. Those are the ones I got. My only real problem is that the EGR tube that connects to the back of the passenger side header doesn't line up and the bolt won't fit in it. So I have an exhaust leak from the EGR provision on the header.

CA smog leagal? as far as the ERG...are you talking about the air supply or something differant. it is the air supply i would think that you could heat it with a torch and slightly bend it a bit as it is just a tube and bending should make that big of an impact on perormance. just don't bend it too much or you get a crease...unless you have a small pipe bender. let me know. I have swiss cheese knowlage about these cars as i have onyl had mine for about 2 weeks
