    Headers!

I live in San Diego CA and we have to pass smog every 2-3 years. I was wondering if there were any legal long tube headers that I can run on my car and not have to take them off every time I have to renew my tags?? I heard SLP are legal but I'm not sure how true that is.

Im pretty sure they do a visual test in CA and LT's are illegal because they re locate the cats.

I would also stay away from anything slp makes with the exception of an air lid.

From what I understand they hang way low. Even sitting at stock ride height. As far as California... they have the toughest I/M tollerances and do a visual check of the CATS. Thus making any long tube header illegal.

No the stock manifolds flow about just as good as shorties.

    I hate California emissions.
After a month today finally got my smog check
Cuz the cats were messed up
So for the next 2 years I dnt have to worrie bout emissions
Now I'm just gonna get ready for LT, high flow cats
I knw it's illegal but we just have to drive careful and don't give cops reasons to pull you over
It's hard to do it cuz you never know.
If you really want them go for it just be careful
It all depends on the cop if they are cool they dnt look under the car and you are ok
But when emissions come you have to go bk to stock
    Or
    Go to the right place

    They hang extremely low

    Poor quality of stainless

The WORST customer service in the aftermarket auto industry, 2 personal dreadful experiences with them and read many others.

They claim they add 41 HP. The only way they add 41 HP is if the stock manifolds were full of rags and wouldn't allow the motor to breath, then adding the SLPs showed a 41 HP gain. In other words, their advertisements are crap.

i was actually referring to SLP in general. everyone seems to dislike just about everything that has to do with SLP but this probably isn't the thread to discuss. sorry for being off topic.

that's very true. when I had my LT1 TA with LT's and ORY, i had a new cat clamped in on the I pipe and had my AIR and EGR hooked up. I had to cut the heat sheald off of the cat so it wouldn't hit the drive shaft. I drove around to every smog shop and asked them straight up, "my car only has one cat instead of 2 and it's in the wrong place but everything else is the way it should be, will you run the smog test on my car?". I got 5 no's before a guy said "ya but don't tell any body, and if it fails you have to have the work done at my shop". I said deal. it passed because the cats that can be sold legaly in CA are twice as good at killing polutants as the ones that come stock on our cars.

I had SLP LTs on my 93 T/A, they were PIA to put on, but I was very happy with the performance I got from them. Their customer service is terrible and shipping is very slow. I have not bought anything from them directly in over five years. There are better products and vendors that you can deal with.

Their SS is pretty cheap.....within months mine started to rust and look like shit.

I have Kooks SS LTs on my 00 T/A and they look good, and have no rust!!

I wouldnt buy anything from SLP except the lid and LS6 intake. All their products are WAY over rated. Not to mention their customer service sucks.

I like how there "400hp pack" has a bunch of stuff that isnt going to add ANY power on a stock engine. All you really need is headers/catback/lid/tune and you should get around 340rwh which is roughly 400bhp. There kits are a joke. ls1's make 350hp stock, yet they have a 350hp kit? hmmm
