Header? What would you do?
Hey guys have a ? For everyone. I was gettin ready to purchase some pacesetter armor coated Lt racestyleno egrand stumbled on some pacesetters with the egr provisions around $80 cheaper. I heard the ones with provision can be more of a pain to install. Anyone with experience or opinions?

not really harder to install from what i can tell, i had to use a lift on my pacesetters for my old camaro because i couldnt get the passenger side high enough to stick the header in so possibly be prepared for that. i would recommend removing the coils and brackets because that makes it ALOT easier on the passenger side for the install. I would also have someone else there to help you too, i laid on the motor while a friend put the header in from the bottom and steadied it so i could put in a few bolts to hold it. Also on the driver side you will have to remove the intermediate shaft on the steering shaft where it bolts to the steering rack but its only one bolt so no big issue there. over all being your first time i would allot for at least 2-3 hours or so for install but once you have done it once it seems easy on any other car you might help do them on.

black- 1998 trans am
I have a set of pacesetters with egr provisions on my 98 trans am, install was as expected just get the car as high as you can. Hooking up the egr to the header is a pain on the passenger side, I later eliminated the egr .

If you are deleting the EGR then go ahead and get the Race Style headers. I'm using them. Getting the EGR tube is kinda a waste. It was designed for cars in Cali that require the EGR if the car came with it.
Also look at getting a tune from Frost. You live in PA so I think your computer gets read for codes. The rear O2's codes that come on because you delete them will make you fail the state inspections.http://www.ls1.com/forums/f7/my-6-liter-build-174257/

Man! State inspection down here where I live is where I am incredibly lucky. I put Texas Speed race style (no provisions) long tubes on mine. The inspector I go to just wants there to be lights, blinkers, brake light, horn and seat bealts.

Yea inspections can be a pain here in Pa unless u know someone which lucky i do. I also get emissions exempt since I put less then 5,000 a year on it.

Get the race style headers as the air/egr provisions can and do break off. Pain in the ass having to pull the header off to weld it up.
