    Header Question

I recently bought my third F Body, a 2002 Trans Am WS6 M6 and I want to install headers. Unfortunately, I have heard about some issues with leaks and the headers becoming loose. Is there any validity to these issues? If so can I fix them and how?

I'm looking at Hooker 1 7/8" headers. Thanks.

Had headers for over 5 yrs now and no issues. But that of course depends on the brand. Well known name brands not an issue. Others like Ebay Headers, I've heard some complaints. Basically you get what you pay for.

When looking for headers stay away from painted. All paint will burn off.

    Stainless steel > Ceramic/Jet Hot Coatted >Painted >Bare.

I've been using Pacesetter Ceramic Coated LT's (race style no EGR) with their ORY and Magnaflow muffler. Just recently acquired a E-cut out that is waiting to be installed as soon as I get it running again.

Thanks. I was looking at Hooker because I've heard they are good headers for the price. I looked at Kooks and American racing headers because of a recommendation but I'm not ready to invest an extra grand in headers.

Best advice - install the headers with a set of new GM exhaust manifold gaskets, Stage 8 locking bolts, and DEI heat sleeves on the plug wires. I did this probably 4 years ago and have had zero issues.

the GM exhaust manifold gaskets are a huge part of this...i've heard "and experienced myself" nothing but issues with aftermarket gaskets...blew an aftermarket gasket out on my drivers said header about 6 months ago and replaced it with a GM metal gasket.
