    Head question

I have a line on a set of patriot heads assembled never installed for 800 bucks over on ls1tech. Here is what he posted

"I have a pair of Patriot Performance CnC ported perimeter bolt heads. 2.02 / 1.57 valves, and .650" lift patriot spring kit, 67cc chambers. Everything is NEW. Heads have never been run. Nice CnC work, and the exhaust has been hand finished. $800 plus shipping for the pair FIRM. Seriously no tire kickers. If you don't have the cash, don't bother me. This isn't a discussion thread, so stop sending me pm's just wanting to talk about these heads."

    I'll be running a TSP 233/239 cam and a fast 92/92

I'm also ignorant to the "perimeter bolt" not 100% sure what means

98 heads had the valve covers bolt around the outside of the cover while all other heads use a center bolt.

Quick answer is you can reuse you 98 valve covers with this head. If you go to a 243 style head it will be center mounted.

Gotcha thanks...also am I gaining anything with a higher compression ratio? And what chamber size is considered too big or too small for a stock bottom end.

    Head question

For NA (natural aspirated) motors higher compression = more hp. It also can make it necessary to run higher octane fuel. IIRC on 93 oct you want no more than 11.5 to 11.7.
