    Fuel rail removal

Ok , so I don;t want to sound stupid........but ...I'm trying to take off my fuel rail to polish it, but I can't get it loose from the rubber line that is connected to it. I took off the outer keeper but it won't pull out. What do I need to do to disconnect this??

    Thanks in advance

    Tool

If it is the one I am thinking...it is actually a coupling. There is a tool at Auto Zone for about $5-6. There is a snap ring of sorts inside the connector and this sides over and loosens. I told the guy at the counter what I was trying to do and he walked over and took it off the rack. There were a couple different sizes in the kit. Pretty sure that is the one you are speaking of. No matter of pulling or twisting will get it off unless you of course break it.

Yes, those damn quick disconnect fuel fittings aren't so quick disconnect if you don't have the little plastic tool for it. Should be $5-$6 bucks and sold at almost any auto parts store as listed above. I completely forgot about it when I removed my intake and it was an extra hour added to the project to go get the thing.

Make sure you relieve the fuel pressure from that little schrader valve as well, and then the rail should just pop right up out of the intake.

If you don't want to mess with disconnecting the fuel line from the fuel rail, you can polish the rail while its still attached. Just get the rail disconnected from the intake, and slide it around. You will have plenty of room to polish it up.
