prolly has a hole cut in the bottom of the box to pull in air...
if that is the case bad from whatn i have heard. The air comming in from 2 sources actually fight each other and prevent good flow...

FTRA seals the box and draws air only from under the car. You can see what it is at fasttoys.net

Who said it has the FTRA mod? The guy you bought the car from?
The "ram air" hood is a pretty poor source of air as far as induction goes..
The Fast Toys Ram Air (FTRA) is a kit that draws cold air from under the car, in front of the stock air dam, through a metal duct. You have to cut the plastic under the filter so air can flow freely through. Just pick it up you'll see what I mean
It also comes with weather stripping to completely seal the air lid from drawing ANY other air besides what comes in through the duct.
It costs about $150 I think, I just bought it and installed it a couple weeks ago.. it took some time to do it, but I really like it and you can't see it at all unless you look under the car or remove the air lid/filter. But I wouldn't recommend trying to do it yourself.. it's a little bit of a project lol
As far as buying anything to try to draw air in from the ram air hood, don't do it. The hood is mainly for looks. I actually am getting mine painted now.. Should be getting it put on by monday. Where did you get yours from?
Oh, and like predator was saying, if you have air coming in from two different sources, it will actually create turbulence where it meets in the air lid and hurt performance.
See if it has the FTRA kit already installed... If not, buy it and call it a day

So does the FTRA weather stripping block off the stock air intake "slot" under the front of the lid coming from the regular nostrils (not ram air)? if this makes sense. I have heard that performance could be hurt with both but I just now thought of this aspect of it

Yep that's what it blocks off.
