Front 02 sensors same as rear?

I was gonna swap my rear 02 sensors with my front 02 sensors, are they the same? They have the same part number if you purchase them from autozone but i was curious if anyone knows for sure.
    thanks

If they have the same part number they are the same. To be safe though I would check at a different parts supplier. They serve different functions but I suppose they can be constructed the same. Why switch them ?

just put in my pacesetter lt and i spliced the wires together and now im throwin all kinds of 02 sensor codes so i ordered extensions and i was gonna use the rear sensors and put them in the front bc the fornt ones are spliced. i do have rear 02 sims in place but a guy i know hooked my car to his comp and he said its not getttin a high reading to the comp so its pissin the comp off to throw codes.
gotta start somewhere to fix the problem, so its new 02's and extensions and reset and see what happens

the rear o2 sensors should and will work in front
now if they are bad, its a different story
my car has over 100,000 miles on it therefore it needed new ones
i just got mine 2 days ago
i just replaced the ones in the front because the ones in the back are not important

replaced the front 02's i think the headers blue them out, or it was a crappy wiring job not sure which one but i put new 02's in and used harness extensions and so far so good

The local Pontiac parts dealer is a buddy of mine and he looked up the o2 part numbers for me the driver side rear is the same as the two front and the passenger side rear is a different part number. If you get the o2 from autozone or one of the other aftermarket companies they are all the same.

might be because of the length of the sensor wire....but the actual sensors are the same.
