imo there are better systems out there performance/sound wise around the price. check youtube and ls1sounds.com if you haven't. but do what you like sound wise.

I have a 99 z28 m6 and a flowmaster catback. Flowmaster is not a bad brand, but the system for our cars isn't very good. Not only did I hear of that through word of mouth, but a LS1 specialty shop. They also said there are better products out there around the price. I think magnaflow isnt bad and its near the flowmaster..

I don't know about sound wise. Performance is another story, but I can't think of one system around the same price that sounds better than a Flowmaster.

I think the FLowmaster catback sounds weak on the LS1s. Nothing at all like my friends old LT1, or Stangs for that matter. Magniflow sounds better imo.

Sound is all a matter of personal preference. On his heads and cam car, the Flowmaster catback will likely sound pretty good (in my opinion). I have a Flowmaster cat-back on my car and it doesn't sound bad at all.....on long trips I simply close the e-cutout and listen to the purr.

There are a number of places to find the cat-back kit...There are several sponsors that carry it as well as Summit Racing.
2002 Camaro SS M6, 2.5 PRC 5.3L heads, TFS 228/230 cam, FAST 92, bolt ons + a 10 lb bottle in the back.

when i had my flowmaster catback, with lt's, cam, and ORY, it sounded like a vibrating tin can at certain RPM's under acceleration. Needless to say, it came off. The catback sounds pretty good on a manifolds car with cats.

Also, the performance isnt really any worse than other catbacks.

At worst you are probably around 3-4 hp less with Flowmaster (according to Y2KPewter in a similar thread) but if you like the look and sound and you aren't hardcore, trying to get every single hp to the ground, etc. then get the Flowmaster! Do what makes you happy. I would personally recommend the Magnaflow since it sounds great and better yet, it's stainless and won't fall apart in 5 years or so.

LS1sounds.com is a great site to check out different exhaust and cam combinations. Good luck!
