Is Fast the only intake answer?

I have another thread about the engine but I'm also wondering about the bang for the buck in an Intake. If this has been covered a thousand times then please just point me to that archive So my question is; on a larger then stock LS engine it seem that Fast makes the best intakes, but are there some decent alternatives for around $500.
    Fast 92mm, 90mm, 78mm
    Weiand intakes,
    BBK intakes,
    Typhoon intake 96mm & 85mm
    LS6 obviously.

I'm coming from an LS1 so anything is better then my LS1 intake but what about these others? I've been told that really only Fast is better then the LS6 because of heat-soak in the others (anything non nylon) reducing their efficiency/hp gains. If you didnt have the money for the Fast, what would ya buy? Thanks again you guys are great.

I'm bolting a 408 onto the Camaro but I can't afford a Fast (go figure). There has got to be someone out there that has tried other intakes.

What kind of heads and cam?

I would take a guess that the FAST flows a tiny bit better than the stock LS6, so if you have really highflow heads with a big cam, then get the FAST.

Otherwise I'd bet that the LS6 intake will flow enough for your needs

I see a lot of people with larger cubed motors using the Victor Jr. intakes.

I hear that most people are happy with the gains from an LS6 intake. And it helps more with other bolt-ons.
