    Exhaust too loud

I just got a 2000 camaro ss the other day. It has Borla exhaust with long tube headers and no catalytic converter. If I put the cat back on it will it quiet it down? I have the same Borla system on an 02' z28 and it is a lot quieter. But it has the catalytic converter on it. Please help me out.

I have the loudmouth w/ long tubes on a 00 SS and w/o the cats it's ridiculously loud, but with the cats it's alot quiter, even though it's the loudmouth. We all know that's pretty damn loud no matter what but yes, cats do make a difference. I have Random Tech's on mine. You also might want to check and see what plate is in it ( I think they have different sizes), aka the part in the back that can be changed to open it up, a smaller one may also help w/ noise. Hope this helps.

I think you can change the plates on the Borla. I don't know much about Borla but I think that would help it some.

not all of the borlas had the 3 way adjustable system available, i don't personally own borla, but i looked at them pretty intently, and i'm pretty sure they came with the exhaust kit. if you bought the car with the borlas already on it, the previous owner probably still has them, however, htere is also a chance your system may not have the 3 adjustable settings, and i wouldn't even be able to tell you where to look...maybe email borla? i'd check out their website or contact the previous owner

I also have a loudmouth on my 99 ss would also like to get headers.
Have not made up my mind weather to go catless or not. I like the sound of the loudmouth but you say it will be even louder with headers.
? can i cut out or change the loudmouth part of the exhaust and insert a loudmouth 2 or do i need a hole new cat back stuff. do not want to get tickets. But still want a good sound.

With no cats does it hurt the engine? And how do you keep it from running rich all the time?
