Exhaust Question!!
I have an 00 SS LS1 and was wondering if anyone has heard or knows how it would sound if I cut off the muffler and just Y piped strait pipes out the back right of the cat? But leave the Cat on.

I love how mine sounds, but I dumped it right before the rearend. Thought it was gonna be to loud inside but its not to bad. I do plan on taking it to the muffler shop to have it ran out the back just for a cleaner look.

i have a stock '99z28. i cut off my muffler about 2 weeks ago just for shits and giggles. it was loud, but i expected louder. only word i can think of to describe it is raw. sounded mean as hell at WOT. but if i were you i would just get true duels. i had mine welded back on yesterday because my car is having problems at start-up and i thought that might eliminate it. it didnt. damnit.

Before putting on my catback I just left it open y pipe for a day or two, sounds sick, had to reset ecu for it to readjust tho, but the only problem with that is no backpressure, so there was low end torque lost, I couldnt deal with that.
