Eliminate cats?
I recently moved to South Carolina from the communist state of Virginia (where basically everything you can do to a vehicle is illegal) VA I'm now wanting to replace my factory exhaust with a more aggresive sounding and better flowing cat back. But I was also wanting to eliminate my cats all together. Should I cut and gut them so it looks like they're still there, or completely remove them? And if I remove them, what goes in their place? I know I have to install O2 sims either way. Oh yeah, money is an issue. What's the best way? Cost for either way? Thanks.

Gut 'em. Then put them back on so it looks like they are there. Doing this will up the volume of any cat-back. I don't know who makes the cat. conv. "test tube" any more.

You could just weld up a straight pipe. Just find some pipe that's the same diameter as your exhaust pipes and cut to fit, then weld it up. But gutting your existing ones might be a better option.
