Electric Cutout?
I was just wondering how electric cutouts work and the purpose(s) of them? Currently I have an ORY with a bullet muffler and I'm wanting to change that soon, so I'm just gathering info before I decide what I want to do. Thanks!

cutout dumps the exhaust before the muffler or were ever you put it
electric cut out is wired to a button or switch in the car so the cut out can be opened or closed with the press of a botton instead of the old get out crall under the car and open them manualy

DMH makes a real nice cutout. I purchased one for our car back in March. You can check them out at KY Speed on our sponsor page.

The main advantage of having an electric cut-out is having the best of both worlds when it comes to exhaust tone.
You can have the car exhaust set-up to be mild at low idle and cruising speeds (such as with a Magnaflow) and be more aggressive at WOT or...
You can open the cut-out and have the car sound mean (loud as hell) all day long, even at lower RPMs.
Most people that get a cut-out leave it open and like the "loudness".

I recently got my car dynoed and made about 8 more rwhp and 20 more ft/lb of torque versus closed through my magnaflow. And it sounds bad ass. I have a dmh too. Oh Im just a cam car pretty much too. no FI

I have a Race Ready Performance cutout, Lifetime warranty. Had it for 2 years no problems, but then I don't drive it every day either.

DO NOT get an electric. Go for a manuall one with 3 bolts. I had cutouts on my bird and I thought about electric at first, but got the manual. Its so easy to cap/uncap and takes about 15 seconds. My only fear was if the electric one broke it would either stay shut or open all the time and believe me there were and are numerous cases of that happening.

I used to think just like you. I'm an old fart, and hate to make things anymore complicated than they already are.
I still have a couple other cars with caps on the cutouts that have to be manually removed.
That's fine and all, as I don't remove them often. Maybe at the track if I feel like it. And I don't have a problem with that. Then I saw the light
It wasn't until I got a pair of electric cutouts on my chevelle when I realized how much fun it is to open and close at the flip of a switch. On the street it's the cats meow. For the sheer pleasure I have had with them, in my opinion they have already paid for themselves and it's only been 3 years. They have a 4 year free replacement warranty. If they quit working after that, I'd just buy another pair.
I can't have that much fun on the street with removable caps.

I like the design of the QTP better, but I would really like to spend less than $200 bucks on one... anyone know of a cheaper single electric cutout 3in with a race readie?
