I have to ask this first - Are you doing it on a lift or in your garage with jack stands?

I can tell you all just need to know which way your doing it.

My recommendation is using a lift and having a buddy help.

wow, ok....the hard way. Hope you have a good jack to help with the tranny. It's a heavy sob. And it is stubborn to get back on.

Ok you will need to drop the torque arm, drive shaft, and then tranny. Remove the bell housing, M6 = clutch, pressure plate, and fly wheel/A4 = fly wheel. You will see the rear main seal. you will need to remove all of the bolts that are circled and the 2 from the oil pan that are pointed at by the red arrows. You will need to losen the back few bolts from the oil pan to be able to get the clearance you need to remove the cover for the RMS.

    Torque Specs:
    Flywheel (FT/LBS) 1st sequence - 15, 2nd - 37, last - 74
    Pressure plate 52 FT/LBS

Could not find any torque specs for the RMS cover.

Reverse to install. If you have a M6 don't forget to bleed the system. While you are there it would be a perfect time for any clutch upgrades or replacements like the slave cylinder.

Getting it out is always the easiest part.

One more thing Pilot bearing, go ahead and replace it to since you replacing the RMS.
