    Direct replacement headers

I see that a lot of guys on here have long tube headers on their camaros. So are the long tubes a direct replacement for the stock manifolds? If not What would be a good direct replacement for my Z28? Thanks in advance.

No, long tubes are not a direct replacement of the stock manifolds, shorties are. I wouldn't suggest getting shorties, just go ahead and get long tubes, you'll get better performance with them then anything else.

Most Y pipes are specific to the headers, so you can usually buy them together from the same dealer as a set. Some brands can mix and match Y pipes and headers, but you have to be careful to avoid a crappy fit.

Technically all long tubes are illegal in all 50 states. Whether or not you can pass emissions with them or not is very state specific.

Yepp, most states say that if you move or adjust your converters then you automaticaly fail.
Ory= no cats and visual inspection fail.
You can pick up catted y pipes and should be fine.
You can pick up some Mid length or shortie headers for your car but you wont see much in gains. The stock manifolds flow about the same.
go long or save your cash
