They are a y pipe you add behind the headers. They have a cap that you can take off to run open headers. Or cap them to run through your exhaust out the back.
Here's a link for some on ebay !!!

Bright Rally Red- 2002 Camaro SS
^^^General idea, but bad description. haha
It's a y-ed section of pipe you weld onto your exhaust. It essentially dumps your exhaust when it is uncapped, and when capped the exhaust runs like normal through the muffler, bullet, or whatever you have. Some people put two cutouts in right behind the collectors, and others put one cutout in their i-pipe.
I'd go with an electric cutout...very handy!

I would ( and did) just do one under the rear passenger seat area. There's a grommet there to run wires if you go with an e-cutout at some point.

yeah i did one on my stock i pipe just under the rear seat, that spot allows it not to hang too low. i have lt,ory and cam I have a short clip at idle but i think i post it like 3x this week alone so members are problably getting tired of it lol.but...if you want to hear it, i can post it agien lol

that grommet is right above that position pretty much. You can see it if you look under the car. I pulled the passenger seat out and ran the wires under the carpet and up to the front of the console. Then I ran the power wire over to the fuse box and used a quarter inch spade connector and plugged it into an aux. spot in the fuse box.

Ive been looking into these for a while. Ive got the true-dual exhaust on the GTO, and was thinking I should go with a pair of these right after the headers. Problem is, it seems my cats are bolted straight to the headers, and I wanted to bypass them. Any suggestions on how to splice in the e-cutouts and retain the ability to pass inspection?

So you're running headers with catted mids? I personally would put them a little further down stream than right off the headers. I would put them just behind you in the catback portion of the exhaust.

Im running completely stock right now. Not trying to hijack the thread at all, so Ill try to keep this beneficial to the OP...
Im thinking about grabbing some black-coated Pacesetter LT's eventually, but was gonna put the cutouts on first (sounds like a bad idea now that I typed it out...)
So I guess I should order the LT's and cutouts at the same time, and have them installed together. Cutouts sound soo badass. I think i'll go for the electrics.

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
On a mostly stock car (and most cammed cars) I do NOT recommend dual cutouts.
There are some instances that will gain power, but for most cars it will lose some.2008 Trailblazer SS

So dual cut-outs could lose power?

Ok, so which side do i put the cutout on? Wont it cause a lopsided pressure buildup in the headers? I mean if one side goes through mufflers and one doesnt, wont the muffler side be more restricted?
