cutouts
I was looking to get electric cutouts. ive seen and heard cars w/ them and absolutely love them.
ill probably put them just after the headers to get the most sound.
my question is: does anyone have any suggestions on a brand?
im gonna be using pacesetter lt's.
and can you put the switch anywhere inside the car or does it have to be on the stick?
thanks

the manual ones have a pull cord kinda like an old choke cord right??

No you don't want them right after the headers, that'll be like running open headers. I've been in my friends camaro with open long tubes and after 10 ten minutes of driving I had ringing in my ears.

Open headers will lose you power. You would have to be tuned for them being 6" off the headers to have any gains from them.
Although they would be loud for sure.
Mine was loud as hell when it was open headers.2008 Trailblazer SS

Mine felt like shit down low. Ran fine....just didn't have the power.
Never really took it up high in the RPM's while it was open headers. The car still moved, but not like it should have. I could feel the lag. It also very much pronouced the cam surge. That got terrible while it was open headers.
I know a guy that lost .8 seconds off his 1/4 mile time running open headers on his 383 LT1.

a lot of people put the cutout right under the passenger seat. There is a nice little spot that seems like gm made just for it

If you run a decent cam through 3/4 tube headers you should get a 10hp gain. 7/8 headers then you may see less. Stock setup it probably would do much but loose low end like one person mentioned above.
The best cutout in my opinion is the Street Pro. Nice switch, opens fast and looks cleaner in the exhaust.
I have a QTP myself and the switch is junk the cutout is slow and the Y-pipe for the cutout is already rusted as a sea vessel. Buddy has a Street pro and that thing is sweet.
Just my opinion I guess
