Do you mean electric cutouts? If so then I go along with DMH.

I heard that the exhaust heat will cause the cutout motor to not last. fact or fiction?

My QTP cut out from WS6 Store works really well. Only on the car for about 1k miles, but so far works great and is definitely worth the money

DMH here for about a year with no issues.
For the person asking why pay more, DMH warranties the cutout even after the initial 4 yr warranty period.

Drill a 2.5" hole with a hole saw in the pipe just before it routes over the rear axle. Cover it with a band clamp if you want to quiet it down, cover it half way to quiet it half way. easy, quick, no $, good for 15HP dyno proven free mod.

it probably works, but I would rather spend $30 on a manual cutout than have my car sound like a pulpwood truck.

Wow, must be one cheap bastard. Manual cutouts don't break the bank.

This is actually an ingenious solution and avoids having to splice in a turnout.

I got my manual cut out for 35 bucks new, then i was at the summit store in Ohio and found a used summit brand electric cutout for 25 bucks! The thing was like brand new and works perfect!

I've had a pair of DMH cutouts on my chevelle for about 4 years now without any issues. Dave is a great guy to deal with too. Great quality, great warranty. Just can't be beat as far as I'm concerned.

If you are on the cheap, at least put a manual cutout on it, which is needed anyway for the electric cutout to bolt on. Hell you can buy them as cheap as $25. Don't buy lunches for a week and you're set

The last thing you want to do is cut a hole and cover it with a hose clamp. That reminds me of some hokey stuff I used to see years ago, cutting a coke can down the side and sliding it over a rusted exhaust pipe with a hose clamp to quiet the leak down
