Cats Question??
Hey,
I have a 98 TA that is totally stock. Well, im saving money to put all new exhaust. I want pacesetter long tubes, a new Y pipe, and then a magnaflow exhaust. Im not sure if I want to put cats back on there and my question is would not putting cats back on the car cause it to throw any codes for not having cats. Basically what im asking is when I put all that stuff on can I drive the car around without having the computer retuned. I am eventually going to get a programer but wasnt sure if I could afford the programer at the same time. I might just wait and buy all the stuff one piece at a time and then spend a weekend and get all of done at once.

No cats will definitely throw codes.
High flow cats may or may not throw codes.
If not using cats, don't worry about the codes for now. Just save and get a programmer later.
Cats vs. no cats is like a 2-5hp difference, not a big deal.
If you want loud and raw, and don't mind the smell, drone, and cackle, no cats.
If you want a more mellow exhaust, but don't mind losing a little power, and paying the extra $$, go with cats.
If you want both, go with cats and an electric cutout.
