you really can't beat a cut out for pure power, but if you got the money, a borla or a magnaflow is gonna sound a lot better, and give you very similar gains in power, you just gotta go with cut outs if you're going with flowmaster! (like me )

youll get tired of the unrefined exhaust note and drone inside the car from a cut out.
i suggest a hooker or magnaflow exhaust

its personal preference, how loud do you want it?, the cat back is going to be about 300-900 depending on what you get and the cutout about 50 after the price of the install.

Most bang for the buck is definitely the cutout, probably will get tired of it though.

    Bandit1 - GMMG is a great catback.

www.ls1sounds.com has sound clips you can check out.

most sound for the buck would be a cutout. most performance, not happening. at most you might get a tenth in the 1/4.

Now here's results of my exhaust endeavors. This is with 200 n2o. the stock vs cutout was same day.

distance --- stock --- cutout --- cutout colder --- Bassani
    60ft ------- 1.987 ---- 2.074 -------- 2.020 -------1.969

I put one on this past summer and plan on this coming summer doing headers, high flow cats, new Ypipe, and maybe even a cutout although I hate cutting up the GMMG. If I do the cutout then I'm going to put the QTP motorized cutout on there. I don't want to be crawling under the car.

And yes, I love the GMMG catback sound. Worth every penny. They run a group purchase every once in a while so be on the lookout.

I put a cut-out on my 98 SS and it was all sound... zero mph, zero ET improvement... I tested it open and closed on the same day at the track...

I suggest headers and a y pipe..... the stock muffler is not robbing that much, at least on the SS.
