    cat delete?

I want to do a cat-delete on my 99 ss. If anyone has done this what are the legal ramifications? obviously its not street legal but when I go through emissions they really couldnt tell could they? also how hard is it to do, would a muffler shop do it?

Depends on if they do a sniffer test or not. If they stick something into your tailpipe to take readings they will know.

I think you will be ok as long as you can deal with the different exhaust smell. In ohio they do a visual inspection to see if its there on anything 95 or older, only going back 25 years though from this year. So it depends on how they inspect. I removed mine on my Jeep, and I didn't mind it. You smell more exhaust at times, but it wasn't anything unbearable. Lots of people told me it will be horrible, I am fine with it. It actually reminds me of driving my boat around a little bit, that raw gas burning smell. Goodluck!

Save your money and just do it yourself. You can get a new ory to bolt up to either headers or the stock manifolds that doesnt have cats. Its very easy, no welding required its all bolt on.

Here in the Phoenix area (Maricopa county) it all depends on which station you go to and what time of day it is. Some only plug into the ALDL and check fuel cap pressure. No codes and you pass (it's all in the tuning). Others are as bad as Cali, mirrors and all. Naturally I know the "right" one to go to cuz I've got LT's without cats. I just "passed" the emissions inspection last week. They didn't even open the hood.

Since you're in Cali (Marines I assume?) why do you ask about Arizona?
