    Cannot Decide on Headers

I want a long tube ceramic header thats under 500 bucks. Im stuck between these ones.

    Hooker Comps. 1 3/4" $439
    Flowtech. 1 3/4" $439
    Texas Speed Race Style 1 7/8" $499
    Pacesetter No Emissions Style 1 3/4" $369

Money is a little bit of a concern but i would much rather pay a little more now than be stuck with junky parts that im unhappy with later.

It will have a catless y-pipe. but im still unsure of the catback. SLP LM2, TSP Rumbler(not true daul version), and the Hooker Aerochamber system.

    Any advice is greatly appreciated.

I had the same question about an LS1 car. There are a lot of comments on here about pacesetter and hooker. I've seen a few about texas speed.

From my experience:I had hookers on a 78 Z28. They went in easily and lasted the 5 years I had the car with no problems.

Do you know if the super comps have the same bends to them as the standard comps, but just larger tubing?

I have Hooker and love them. But under that list......Go with the 1 7/8, when you mod down the road more, they will help out better then any 1 3/4 will. I wish I would have went with 1 7/8 now, but oh the fuck well.....

Not for sure about the bends. But i did speak with tech services @ Holley before purchase. These headers are no longer made they now only offer these in the 1 7/8" the ones that they have for sale are 1 3/4 that is why they are so reasonable. I like mine very much though.

It depends on what you're going to do to the car. If you're eventually going to build it up for speed, and do mods like heads/cam/sc/ ect, you'd want to go with 1 7/8. If you're going to just have it as simple mods, go with 1 3/4. That being said, if you're looking for good basic longtubes, pacesetters have had a good reputation with decent power gains, and good fitment. I've gone with hookers with both ls1 cars ive had. I went with their stainless steel this time, for about 500. That with an ORY was 800 out the door. If you were to go for high quality, you'd go for Dynatech, Kooks, or American racing, but they're all around 1k. So for what you want, if you want basic headers with decent gain- pacesetter, for a little better quality (imo)= hookers

I do plan on doing more mods down the road. (408 stroker on an LQ9 block since my block is the 98 and its got 177,XXX mi already) so i know the 1 7/8 headers would be better for that.

Yea then go with them, but wait until you can afford a better brand. If you're going to put alot more money and effort into it, save up and buy the quality stuff
