    CA Exhaust question

Need some help. I have Pacesetter LT's on my 96 SS with an off road Y pipe and SLP Loudmouth. I moved to California and now the time has come for me to register my car. Anyone know what kind of exhaust set up I should get to be legal but still have a good sound and some extra hp? I know Pacesetter makes some mid tubes that are CA legal...

Shorties are the only CA legal headers you can run. A set of JBA cat4wards will do well. But you'll also need to get a catted y-pipe. Do you still have your stock cats? All the shorty headers are designed to work with stock cats. As far as the catback system...those are all 50 state legal. But the problem is how load it may get. Many cities have different noise ordinances so it'll depend on where you live at. But a loudmouth is more than likely going to get you a noise abatement ticket. I use borla with the electric cutout. But I think any catback with a muffler, not resonator, should have good flow and met the noise standards.

    Oh....and welcome to California

Thank you, I did look at JBA. Do you know if they make Y pipes that are street legal? I don't have my original set-up so I have to get an all new system.

I don't think they make y pipes for GM. Remember that JBA is a Ford based company. I haven't researched y pipes in a while so I'm not sure who has good ones. I did have the slp one but don't recommend it...bad fitment problems. Have you checked the "for sale" section? http://www.ls1.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=31
