Budget TB upgrades?
I am new to ls1's (i'm a ford guy) and have read that some trucks had 78mm t-bodys. i measured mine (99 SS) and it was just under 75mm. even though i have ported it i am looking for an upgrade. is there a good budget choice OE part out there? how big can i go on a ls1/ls6 intake? (i forgot to measure that).
TIA!

If you have a 99 LS1 then you have a LS1 intake manifold, if you ported the stock TB then thats more then enough and invest money in some other mods. If your on a tight budget then do the FRA mod, exhuast cut out, tb bypass. You can pick up a lid used or new for under 100 bucks as well but for now the other mods are fairly cheap to do, im sure im missing something else but someone will chime in and help with that.

here is where i am right now (and i know i have the ls1 intake, i am considering splurging for an ls6);
hooker super comp coated lt's
slp lid
zo6 maf
tb bypass
ported tb
msd coils (i only gave $125 for them!)
ORy
stock 2.75/3 (pre/post muffler) flow catback with tucked single outlet(the car was alll original lady owned when i got it, i dont think this was changed)
diablo tuner on the way
want to get some roller rockers but havent decided on a ratio yet
will be installing a nitrous wet plate kit
its an m6 car w/stock gears

A ported stocker will be plenty for what you have. BTW, I wouldnt bother with the roller rockers, the factory ones work just fine.

PRC Stg 2.5 5.3's, Futral F14, PP Typhoon intake, True duals, Performabuilt tranny, & 3500 convertor, HSW plate kit.

You got a good list of parts, installing the LS6 will be a good compliment to those parts. I was gonna suggest gears but you would hardly have any type of traction when running nitrous. If you care about handling, invest some money into that if you havent already. Other then that install your nitrous, get it tuned and enjoy the ride.

and thats why i was asking, just to see if there was anything worth doing besides the intake. once i am done and have the ls6 and a tune, suspension mods are next in line. my only real dilema right now are springs as i have heard too many stories... i want something i can autocross on. ride q is not overly important but bottoming out is along with maintaing proper geometry (as in i am not lowering it just for looks)
battery will be ending up in the back as well, may help me a little with traction

LS6 intake will suit you nicely. Dont buy that Diablo handheld. Its useless. Cancel that order if you can and spend your money elsewhere. What shot you planning on going with? Definitely get a good tune.

well that bites. i thought i needed something to tune it with on the dyno and the predator seemed to offer the best bang for the buck and let me change fuel and timing tables along and fans. i picked one up from a fellow forum member for $205.
i am starting with a 150 shot and if things go well and i can keep it safe 200. looking for 10.90s

You can still use the Diablo to take out some timing while on the spray, if need be.

Watch for lean codes with that maf, the stock one works fine and others lean out until codes are thrown.
