    Borla Owners Help!!

My borla 3" adjustable exhaust came today for my '99 Z28 6spd. I spent forever getting the old system off and now i am having problems putting on the new system.

The hanger on the driver side of the car that holds up the muffler is much shorter than the stock one. This leaves only about 1"/ 1.5" between the muffler and the heat shield for the gas tank. I know that the exhaust will get very hot- will i be in danger? Did borla design it this way on purpose or am i doing something wrong? The factory set up had much more space between the tank and the muffler.

Second the hanger (near where you put plates in) that supposed to attach to the passenger side doesn't reach the spot its supposed to attach. Why is this? All my pipes for the system are in the right spots.

Anyone who has some nice pics of under their car with borla on it please post em!

My baby is sitting out in the rain tonight becuase i couldn't finish in time to get her in the garage. I will resume in the morning. Please help!!

My Borla (muffler) tucks up right to the heat shield also. Never had a problem with it. Maybe a little rattling. Took a screwdriver and pryed up a little more space. This is actually cool if you have a TA girdle on your rear. Makes the girdle completely visable to whoever is driving behind you.

I have a Borla cat back on my car, but I have no idea what a girdle is. Where are you putting this thing and why.

the girdle is a cover for the rear housing. it's made out of aluminum with two bolts to apply pressure to the main caps for the ring carrier. one of the weak points in the 7.5 rear is the housing shifts and yhe carrier moves out of position. this breaks ring gears.

Got it. I see what you are talking about now. Reading the posts I thought you were talking about something on the exhaust.

Just pick up an electric cutout and never worry about changing plates.
