Why not look into installing a cutout? I don't think the SLP will be any louder. Do you have l/t headers and a catless y-pipe? That will increase sound as well. A cutout provides a good option if you want quieter when driving, but louder at your discretion.

    Loudness goes as follows:

Long Tube Headers with True Dual setup
    Long Tube Headers with ORY
    1) Open Headers (definitely not recommended)
    2) Cut-Out
    3) Straight Pipes
    4) Resonator (SLP Loudmouth I or equivalent)
    5) Bullet Muffler
    6) Cat-back mufflers (depending on how much the sound is really muffled)

I'm assuming you have the sound plate set to the last setting or completely open? Borla shouldn't be "quiet" with that sound plate open. Stock manifolds and cats will keep any system quiet for the most part. Need more info on your current setup.

Its not loud enough? haha i dont hear that often with my Borla. I had stock manifolds before and it was pretty loud with the open plate....then i put LT headers and no cats. Do that before you put an SLP waste of money on there!! Trust me Borla adjustable is my fav imo how can you go wrong. When you want it quiet 3 bolts and its almost stock then you open it up and sounds like an animal!!!!!

I agree. but better yet get a cutout in the location of the plates.

i love the way it sounds its loud. the other day i went and got a cutout install on the i-pipe just to be louder. it was already loud trust me setting peoples alarms and getting people scared when i would turn it on lol

I think the lm1 is louder than a cut out because its not being dumped under the car. Its def a close comparision though.

Technically, yes this is true, especially if you're the bystander listening. Cut-outs are insanely loud for interior resonance, but the sound coming from below shouldn't make it much quieter bouncing off the street/car body versus out of the pipes into the open.

I had a cut-out in the past on my LT-1 formula, stock manifolds, and it only seemed loud from the side it was on. After my car had driven by, it didn't seem so loud in comparison with an exhaust through a cat-back. Inside was insane though. I didn't have an electric cut-out so I didn't like it, especially when inspection time was coming up.

Cutout under the car is louder, closer to the engine.
