Borla Back Cat Systems
I have a 1999 Trans Am. I am looking at changing the back cat portion of my exhaust with a Split Rear Exit Borla back cat, Part Number #14780.
Current Mods are:
Granatelli 350200 Cold Air Intake Lid
Cut out the bottom of my air box, K and N filter
Taylor 8mm wires
cooling bypass line on my TB
I am about to polish the TB and cut back the EGR.
My question is, is the cost vs. power gain worth it? It will cost me around $900 for this system. Should I invest in another direction? Is there a better system with less cost? I really like the tuned sound that comes from these systems and my wife drives the car on nice days and I want the option of being able to quiet it down with the block off plates.
Please advise...
Thanks!

It is the best sounding in my opinion. My wife loves the sound. It is all stainless as you know. I think you might pick up 10-15HPwith it. If you want HP 900.00 is better spent elsewhere.

I put one on my 01 TA WS6, never regretted that decision. It's a real head turner.

I agree, it is a sweat system. It was the first thing that I did when I bought my 01 new and it added 10 to 15.

I saw this on another site and it looks like the Magnaflow is the best bang for the buck at only $400 and its Stainless Steel (complete catback)
JMO dont get me wrong the Borla is a nice system just pricey when new

Borla is the best sounding exhaust IMHO, if you can afford it would go for it hands down.

I had a Borla when my car was mostly stock and I loved the sound. However when I eventually got long tubes the sound was a little to raspy for my liking. Still a very nice system though and well built!

I really like the sound of the Borla, but the price is retarded. I also don't like the dual tips too much. So I went with the MagnaFlow, I got it for 375 Bucks shipped over night on eGay. I say that is a very good price and it sounds good.

Try to find a used Borla. I bought mine on the local craigs list for $300 it only had 5000 miles on it and looked like new. Shop around a little. I love mine and its fun to play around with the different sized plates.

+2 I just put on Kooks LT and ORY. Now I just bought a Reg Y and cats. I lost the borla sound I liked so much.

Love my Borla. From a hp stand point, not woth $900. If you like the tips and sound adjustibility then it is worth it.
