Smile Best way to spend $1000?

    Hi all,
I have a 2000 Z28: SFC's, shock tower brace, SLP lid, ported TB, MagnaFlow catback. I want a dependable summer driver and weekend racer.

Am I going the right direction in getting TSP headers and ORY, poly motor mounts, and an intake?

does anyone have a Weiand intake, how do they work?

    thanks!

Yes great choices to get on the headers and motor mounts. If that is your budget, try an LS6 intake used if you can locate one.

I got the tsp 1 7/8 headers and poly motor/tranny mounts, a tsp x pipe with dynomax bullets and I just gotta figure out what high flow cat I want. But I will be buying trick flow heads and a tourquer v2 cam at a 112lsa and last but not least the umi sfc and a monster stage 3+ clutch with a mgw shifter and some more stuff I am forgetting I am sure...

I have the bbk intake on my 98 ss. its a pretty good intake and fairly priced. a couple things to keep in mind tho is that 1. it does get pretty hot and i was told that the heat would take away a couple hp (though im not real sure on how much more hp this intake gives compared to the ls6 or any of the others) and 2. if you do get the bbk you definately need to put some locktite on the screws underneath the intake that hold that removable pan on because mine had a bad hesitation and was getting fresh air in from somewhere (found out it was actually a leaking header gasket) but i removed the intake and found 4 of those screws vibrated loose and where just laying in the valley and about 8 more of the screws were loose.

Thanks, the more info the better, right now the used BBK and Weiand are cheaper than the used LS6.

It will cost you $1000 for me to tell you the best way to spend $1000.

J/K....sounds like you're on the right track. Throw some headers and a tune at it. As far as intakes I would suggest keeping your eyes peeled for a used LS6....you can normally find them in the $325-$350 range used. Check ebay too. Get a list of all the LS6 intake part numbers so you can verify what you're buying....there's about 12-14 different part numbers or something like that. I'll see if I can dig them up on here and post them.

hokers and beer. j/k you will like the tsp stuff i have all that same stuff on my car from the headers to the tips and love it the mounts are a must and its a good time to do it with the headers out. try and find that ls6 intake the others hold heat like already sead and will take away some power when hot. you are also going to want to think about a tune but can go for a bit if you cant get it at the same time.

good tires but rotational mass counts more then dead weight on the car. My 18's made a .2et difference at the track from my 16's.
If you go poly motor mount get one for the tranny to keep flex from finding the softest point and more stress on said point. Ditch the shock tower brace and get some sway bars or koni's if you want a real difference in handling.

Scroll to the bottom of this thread. There is a dyno graph with LS2 vs LS6.

I'd get a 4000 stall and a trans cooler. With the money left over start saving for a torque arm. That'll make the car faster than any exhaust will.

A stall on a 6spd probably won't work too well
