well the best bang for buck would be buy a used lid online ($50)
and a new K&N filter ($50) and there is any easy 10rwhp.

on my 400rwhp SS i had an MTI lid, K&N filter, and an SSRA.
it was a nice set-up, and wasent very expencive.

and just so you know, there is no best intake.all have ups and downs.

    good luck.!

Is there any thread that rates the K&N vs. the SLP w/ power ratings or just opinions from people?

since you have the SS I think you should leave your functional air induction alone. Even though you can probably get more HP from a K&N FIPK (only a few hp), it's the SS trademark. Just my opinion.

    K&N:http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...Prod=57-3022-2

    SLP:http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=21046

SLP: 25HP-im not sure if it Really produces this much, maybe on the Z28 but i bet its pretty close,
    K&N: 14HP

But the SLP takes some time to install its a bit more complicated. il try to get you some pics of mine.

Nice....thanks....dunno which one i'll get....i'm gonna call SLP and K&N tomorrow to get their take on their product. If the SLP really give near 25hp i'll def go with that one but if its not much difference from the K&N...i'll prob go with the K&N kit. thanks.

its ALOT different than the K&N the SLP sucks air from under the front of the car AND the hood scoop the K&N just sucks from the stock position. thats why the SLP is a little harder to install.

    Good luck!

the SS model has the functional hood scoop. SLP wants you to put the rubber seal over that but you dont have to (it makes it better if you dont). it works better with the SS because of the hood scoop. just a minute and il try to have some pics up to show you.

i got mine off of summitracing.com and they even gave me a free HAT!!!

if you go with ground shipping then its free! good luck! (using a jack to lift the front of the car will help on the install)

just a couple more pics... if you need any more pics i can easily get them.

I see that this is an old thread but I thought that I would give you my opinion. I have an MTI lid w/ a K&N filter and the ram air cutout. However, I bought the K&N FIPK along with a Granatelli MAF sensor set up for ram air and I'm trying to get the SLP ram air hood but can't afford it. To me, that would be the best set up for air induction.
