Best charger??
What would be best for the LS1 engine. Supercharger, Turbocharger, or Procharger? Im pretty much lost on all aspects of these components so if anyone could enlighten me in layman's terms of how they work, what they affect and how well they work it would be much appreciated.

That info, at any level of detail, will take more reading than what most people who have it are gonna want to type here.
First of all, Procharger is just a brand name for a supercharger.
Supercharger: Belt-driven, less expensive.
Turbocharger: Exhaust-driven, more complicated and expensive install.

Procharger is probably the most reliable and most powerful supercharger brand on the market right now. There are also many types of superchargers: centrifugal, roots, and twin screw. Procharger is a centrifugal type; the boost level increases as your RPMs increase so you aren't on full boost until you are almost ready to shift.
With a turbocharger, you can expect to get more power than that of a supercharger. A turbo is more efficient as it doesn't use HP to create HP like a supercharger.
Like said, a turbo is going to be more expensive and complicated to install.
Really depends on your budget and what your goals are. Either way, don't plan on running more than 8lbs of boost without forging the bottom end of the motor (pistons, crankshaft, and connecting rods). Also, make sure that your tune is spot-on with FI.

I looked around before when I was going that route and the best deal I found was the procharger based in power output, cost, and install. Although sometimes you can get lucky like my friend and come across someone selling a used Vortech that was like new with all the parts for $2500. If you come across a deal like that jump on it. I'm still hoping he is still going to sell it soon so I can buy it. I wanted a procharger but price beats brand and the power difference doesn't justify the price difference.
