    Bassani Shorty Headers....

I'm planning on buying a set of Bassani shorty headers w/ the Y pipe and high flow cats. I need some feedback on this set and what is the difference between the long tube headers and shorty headers? Any feedback or information will be helpful...
    Thanks

if you're going to take off your stock manifolds for ANY reason, you should put Long Tube headers on. they offer probably 10-15 more hp than shorties, keep in mind they arent legal in all states but they will be the best bang for the buck, if you go with a brand like pacesetter

I saw this to the best of my knowlage:
LT aren't leagal in any state. Federal law dictats that you must have cats and that cannot adjust the placment of the cats and if you put LTs on then you are moving the placement of them.

IF i am wrong let me know but i am failry certian of this.

but they do give better numbers for N/A cars. as for F/I cars i "gather" that shorties are better... why they are I have no clue but that's what I hear.

    Good Referance for exhaust

I thought Bassani made mid legnth headers for LS1 f bods. If they are shorties then I disagree. Total waste of money and effort.

They're either shorty, mid or long tube headers. I don't care what Bassani calls em. There is no "optimum" legnth header.

    I'm guessing they're mids, they're the only Bassani one's i've seen for LS1's.

They are definately not carb legal. Mid legnth headers move the location of the cats just like Mac mids and long tubes. The Bassani "mids or Optimums" whatever you wanna call em cant use the stock y pipe and cats. Wont pass Cali emissions.

Basically to answer your question those headers are not shorty headers and will not pass Cali emissions. Unless you have a hook up or plan on changing them just for the inspection you should look into the JBA shorties. I think Edelbrock makes shorties as well.

In the case of most headers, you will sacrifice some low-end torque for some top-end horsepower.

So what is the best header package to buy that will give the most horsepower? I'm not really worry about the price before I put headers on my car I really want to install the best headers out there that will not leak or have any problems in the long run. Thanks for the info guys

Go stainless steel. Won't rust. Kooks or QTP. ~$900.

no that doesn't happen. look alot closer at the graph. there was a spike at the beginning of the before run. look at the entire torque graph. there was no loss anywhere.

you would have to go a really large primary tube on the header to lose torque going from cast manifolds.
