Any good upgrades to do while swapping headers?
I checked out the stickies and searched, so I hope I'm not covering old territory here.
I'm changing to long tube headers soon and was wondering if any of you had some good suggestions for other upgrades that would be convenient to do at the same time. I don't get a lot of time to work on my car due to my work schedule so I'd like to upgrade as much as possible all at once.
Many thanks to all for the great info already posted! I'd never have the confidence to try half of these modifications if it weren't for you all.

Always a good time to swap out plugs and wires. You can also upgrade/replace your old O2 sensors with Bosch 13111's -- they have a nice long harness on them so you do not need extensions.

If you ever intend on doing engine mounts do them with the headers off.

It's also a good time to eliminate the AIR and EGR setup if you don't have to worry about emissions. Seeing as how you list CA as your location, I'm guessing you do have to worry, but have a way around it? Could also do the wire mod if you want to make the engine compartment look cleaner.

I'm actually a FL resident and only here for the Navy so I've still got FL plates and don't have to worry about the emissions crud.

Yeah, as long as you don't have to register your car in CA. you're good, but if you do you'll have to get it smoged here!
From the CA. DMV website:
Smog:
Is there a nonresident military exemption from the smog inspection?
No, if the vehicle is to be registered in California, a smog inspection certification is required.Last edited by Blue28; 05-02-2010 at 02:22 PM.

Second time stationed in CA and I learned the hard way last time that it sucks to have a CA registered car. You guys get absolutely screwed on your fees. Besides, I don't want to screw up the look of my front bumper by having to put another license plate up there!

If you do motor mounts do the trans along with it.
I wouldn't say it's convenient but an ls-6 manifold swap.
