After Market Intake Manifolds? Yes or No
Hi, am new to forum and am probably asking this question for the 10th time but was wondering if after market intake manifolds ie Wilson or Fast intakes were worth the money for the minor HP gain. I am currently rebuilding my engine and it is the only thing left to do. I have read that the HP gain is around 20hp. Could someone who has installed one please give me some advise as im not sure whether to leave it as is. Other mods to engine are the usuall, Comp cam 238/242 Hyd, Comp springs retainers, lifters & pushrods. Yella Terra 1:8 Ratio rockers.
Custom cyl head port, pacemaker 1&3/4" INTO 3" headers. Rollmaster timing chain, Melling oil pump, Romac balancer, Jim Berry Race Clutch, 4500 pound single plate ceramic. Any advise would be much apreciated.

FAST intakes don't make that much power over an LS6 "if" the motor is stockish. But since you are going cam headers etc and letting the engine breathermore the engine will benefit from the FAST much better than the LS6. Haven't heard much about the Wilson other than what they advertise. Being all aluminum though I would not see it doing as well on a street car as the composite FAST.

A FAST intake, especially ported will wake that setup considerably. That cam will want to make power well beyond the 6300-6400 wall it's hitting with the LS6 intake. Not only does the FAST intake flow considerably more, but it allows the RPM band to extend much higher. Allowing power to be produced at a higher RPM almost always means more power overall. A FAST 90MM out of the box should be worth an easy 15rwhp, while a ported setup should see 20-25rwhp more, and the power will peak several hundred RPM higher. If you're currently running an LS1 intake and not the LS6 intake, a 40+rwhp gain is not out of the question!
Forget about any other intake currently available for these engines.

The Wilson Manifold is the same as a fast, actually i think Wilson make them.
I was also considering the Harrop, but think it might be overkill.
Thanks for your input guys, looks like i will be investing.
this is the Harrop to suit Ls1. It is Sexy.

Wilson made more than one type of intake for the LS1. Even though the FAST intake does day Wilson on it, everyone refers to it as the FAST intake. And I certainly don't have any experience with that Harrop intake, but my guess is that it would be overkill for your setup
