    AEM or K&N

Is there any difference from an AEM intake from a K&N or is it just preference

yes there is a difference. AEM is a cheap and pathetic excuse for an intake, and though k&n thinks they are better than they really are, at least their products work. i assume youre talking about a cone type intake, which is about the only type AEM makes, and they are used primarily in 4 cylinder applications. i do contend that they suck (from experience using one on an old ricer of mine). get whats proven, a lid, a good filter and cai.
