4th gen exhaust ?
i've been looking through exhausts, and i notice that the lt1's and ls1's have different part numbers for the cat backs.. but wouldn't they generally be the same from the i pipe back? i mean, mounting, and hangars and everything should be the same right?

Everything other than the way they fit onto the y-pipe is the same. This is true for all 1982-2002 systems. You can fit an LT1 catback on an LS1, but it will require custom exhaust work to mate the I-pipe to the Y-pipe.
