408 stroking disadvantages
I'm thinking about stroking my LS to a 408 but I don't know, what are some disadvantages?

I believe you can only go as high as 383. The steel sleeves can only be honed 0.10-0.20. The cylinder wall is not thick enough to support a bore that big on top of that it is aluminum.
If you truely want a 408, look for a LQ4 or 9 (6.0L) They are iron blocks and can be bored out easy to 408.
If you need more info on LQ4/9 blocks let me know.

If you have a lot of knowledge in that area, maybe you could do a write up. Get a used one from the junkyard, how to have the work done, what accessories we could reuse from our LS1, etc... I would def be interested. You could do a slow build, and keep expenses down....

I plan too, in storage I got a 04' LQ4 short block. My plan was to start it this summer.

Looking forward to it. You are talking about a truck block, right?
