1,000th Header Question
I am overseas and am thinking about installing headers and y pipe on my 01 Hawk.
I have no access to diagnostic or tuning equipment here. Is a tune 100% needed after header install?
Any handheld/laptop style tuners that are reasonably priced that will do the job?

Red Tint Jewelcoat- 2008 Trailblazer SS
Tune is not needed after headers.
Although it will get you the most out of them.
No good tuning software comes cheaply.2008 Trailblazer SS

I haven't tuned mine yet and it's been a few hundred miles since the install. It does run rich and leaves you stinkin, lol. Other than that there's no problems

I've been driving my car around for like 2 months, with ALOT more than headers installed, with no tune...Even raced it with no problems lol...
Just make sure and get o2 elims.

I will probably get the TSP Y with cats. I don't have emissions testing here but cats are the right thing for the enviroment. Wait, did I just say that, damn, I must be getting old....
I figure I'll get the cats that way I am covered in the future. Plus, don't they quieten it down a bit? I have the stock SLP Firehawk exhaust now.
Lots of question about headers on here and we all have our own opinions. I have been using non coated headers for 25 years on my old cars and you just deal with ugly pipes but never have I rusted a pair out. I can afford SS headers like Kooks but you know bang for the buck says Pacesetters.
Kind of torn about modding a Hawk Formula though, not many made.Last edited by crustysarge; 02-18-2006 at 11:10 PM.

Not many made, but it is still yours and there is no reason you shouldn't make it the car you want it to be
