    Trans-Axle dilemna

Anybody know if this trans-axle is a weak link in these cars? I've noticed some major wheel-hop in mine upon minor wheel-spin. I can go WOT in 1st and it gets real bad, real quick. But upon short-shifting to second (to avoid any catastrophies), it'll spin for a bit and hook with no wheel-hop issues at all. I only drive the car occasionally on the weekends, and rarely do I beat on it. Heck, I've only gone WOT in it maybe 4-5 times since I've had it, but this has happened every single time. Guess I kind of figured it would come with the territory, since it's not a solid axle design, but it's rather irritating.

So my question is, knowing wheel-hop causes big problems real fast, what's the cure? Is there an aftermarket assembly offered on these things? Or are there just a few internal peices that need to be upgraded? Or is it just like the 10-bolt, where it's pointless to dump money into the factory unit? I haven't joined any vette forums just yet, as you guys seem to always be able to help point members in the right direction. Any input for the newbie?

yeah the trans axle is notorious for this.. stiffer shocks and bushings will obviously help..

where do you live? cold rubber will always have a tendency to hop around.. I would just wait until summer time comes around for you to play rough with your toy

Yep, it's the shock distributed from the shift and weak shocks, worn shocks etc. They make a differential brace that helps a bit and like others said, tires make a difference.

I've been battling a no-start condition since Saturday morning. Got a whole list of things to check, and test with a 12V meter. So pissed and frustrated

Do you have a battery tender on it?

    Or do you have juice?

Yeah, I believe the culprit to be a bad battery cable bolt (connection). I've done some testing, and it all points to it. I'm gunna tear it down next weekend and put a new one in. It starts just fine now, but not for long. Probably arcing it's arse off
