Shorties!
Hey guys i live right in the middle of the smog state capital of US, california. Though our weather is nice, our smog laws suck. I am most likely not going to bolt on long tubes as much i would love to, but Im contemplating if shorties are even worth the hassle or if i should just stick with my manifolds; especially considering I wanna swap my heads and cam as soon as I save up. What types of feedback can u give me on shorties considering my circumstances? (CA smog legal car) Thanks

The only way your gonna stay legal in CA is to go with shorties..period!
Others will chime in and tell you its not worth it...and for the cost of a new set..they're right..buy used save your bucks... you do see an increase in HP with shorties..the question is how much..I had a set on my Camaro..and the SOTP dyno told me it was diffrent..how diffrent..cant tell ya...
As for pairing with a new H/C set up...with shorties.Id go with a new cam set up only TR224 or somthing like that..and put therest into seats!Yellow 2004 ZO6 (pic)

Can't you do midlength headers and still stay legal with a catted Y-pipe??

Red Jewel Tintcoat- 2010 Camaro SS
I have Bassani shorties, and they seem to have helped in making some descent numbers with just simple bolt ons.

Since you're going heads and cam, the headers will be a moot oint. I think it there was something more relevant that will impact emissions, will be heads, and cam
It's a catch 22, you'll definitely need headers to take advantage of the head/cam set up, that's almost mandatory. As to which headers? If going shorties, you may want to look at the JBA headers, I think they make one of the best shorties around, as there are some other companies that do the same
Keeping the cam under 230 on the exhaust duration, and a good tune, will increase your chances of passing emissions...

The headers JBA offers are 1 3/4 with a 3" collector.
My uncle added set to his 99 vette and he picked up 14rwhp untuned.
PM me if you want a set..
