May be a future C5 owner.
My parents talked to me the other day. My dad is willing to give me book value for my current car in the future, as my younger sister just turned 16 and will need a car.
Book value for my current car is roughly 12k. I'm planning on putting that entire sum as a down payment which will result in a tiny monthly note on a loan for a vette.
I want a 2003 or 2004 Coupe in spiral gray. Haven't decided on M6 or A4 yet but time will tell. Want low-ish miles (below 40k is fine). Could I find this for around 20k?
As always, thanks for any help.

Millennium Yellow- '02 Corvette
Thats also a C6 Z06 not a C5 Z06. C5 Z06's dont have a hatch and the C6 Z06 is in the high $40's to $80k for a brand new one.
To the OP, if you search enough you will find the car you want for the right price. Try looking on the Corvette Forum, there are several C5's for sale on there.

Jetstream Blue Metallic- 2008 Z06 Corvette
Although I own a C6 Z06, I wouldn't opt for a C5 Z06 either, just for the same reasons as yourself. I was never fond of the rear glass. But I WOULD seriously attempt to push you towards the 6 speed manual. The gap in HP is not too difficult to close with the reg. C5 and the C5 Z06...but if you chose the wrong tranny...now that's another story, and to me, the auto would be the wrong choice.
But, that's just my opinion, and opinion's are like assholes. Everyone has one, and they all stink!

I started with a C4 then got a C5 and own both. After driving my C5s u would throw rocks at a C4. I have a automatic and would not want it any other way as I have owned both.

I just drove to san jose from san diego via vegas, glad I had no clutch !
Here is a 04 where I bought mine, certified, 115 point inspection with 100k power train warantee. Not bad for a GM Certified 04.

Good luck on your search. You should be able to find a nice one in the ballpark of $20k.

make sure you get heads up... If you dont get head up Display you are a fucking idiot...
also you should be able to get one with under 50k miles for around $15k... C5's are dirt cheap right now... A guy on here did have a Fixed Roof Coupe listed for like $17k with i think 35k miles on it... Shop aroudn and you can get a NICE car....

Jetstream Blue Metallic- 2008 Z06 Corvette
I have it on my 2008 Z06 and truthfully I never use it, it's more of a distraction than anything else. Sure, once in a while I turn up the lights to see what kind of G force I can get in a good series of tight turns, (I don't need the other functions as what radio station I have on etc...) but otherwise the HUD tach is no where near as linear as the sweep. Just my two little pennies. I'm sure there are guys that will disagree with me that have it on all the time. To each his own.

i think the C5's are still sexy cars. they ride and perform very nicly. ive driven them alot and i DO like them, however, base models are dime a dozen. dont know if that kind of stuff bothers you. love the zo6's, but not a fan of the hard top either (some nice history there though). with financing, or waiting 6 months, 12K would be a huge chunk of a 2010 Camaro. or might even be able to find a base C6 for mid 20's
just typed in a quick search... first one listed
