well the plan is to paint it black....but i feel the engine and interior will come first since the outside isnt too bad...although its hard as hell to get grease off of that white paint! i would have taken engine pics but hell, if youve seen one pos '80s smog cluttered gm engine, youve seen em all.....

Not too bad at all. Looks like you have a solid car and a little TLC will work wonders. Our '74 was basically a basket case when I started the restoration. Best thing about C3's is that you can get anything and everything for them.

From 53-62 they had a solid axle. In 63 the IRS was introduced. 53-54 had an inline "blue flame" 6 with a 2spd power glide trans. In 1957 fuel injection became avalible. Also the flags used in the symbol for corvette where arranged in a "V" (1955) to show it had a v8. In those days if the two flags were crossed it meant it had fuel injection..

You guys know more about these cars than I do. This is my first vette and I've only had it for a few months. Soon she will be put in the garage and taken Apart for a semi-restoration.

If you have any questions or issues, post them up. The only thing I did not do was remove the body from the frame. Other than that, the entire car was taken apart and every component refurbished.

well the main agenda is to take the drivetrain out including the rear suspension and rebuild everything. i will definately have questions about the rear suspension...so im sure you will be hearing from me....havnt totally decided on what to do as far as engine and transmission.

The rear wheel bearing design is a real PITA. If you know someone that has a bearing setup tool and spindle press it is a good thing to have if you are going there. I was able to do it without these tools, but it was not a lot of fun.

Things to consider and look for... The stock differential covers are prone to cracking. They do sell a beefier cover if this is an issue. Also, I would replace the lateral stock links with tubular rods as it is alot easier to align the rear wheels and it is less likely to move on you once set. The rear spring tends to sag over time but is not too expensive to replace.

I noticed that when i back up into a parkin spot..no matter how straight the wheels are, i always end up crroked in the spot. what do you think could cause this?
