Light Pewter Metallic- 2000 C5 Corvette
Experiences/thoughts with 1.85 rockers?
Am thinking of adding SLP 1.85 rocker arms to my 2000 A4 C5. I have a low lift .525 .531 XR269HR Comp Cam. My understanding is that the rockers will add about 12rwhp (peak) and about 15-17 ftlbs rwtorque (peak) on a stock engine, so I expect q little more with my setup. I understand the rockers have a fairly significant effect on "under the curve" power and torque. I do not want to change cams again, and thought this may give me just about what I want from the car. I have a great low end and the car pulls very hard. I had 3.73s in the car and it was really difficult to launch quickly on street tires. They just wanted to spin. I switched to 3.42s in the hope the car would be easier to launch quickly off the line. I was hoping the rockers may help regain some of the midrange jump lost to the gear change and give me a little more up top. I realize there's a lot of knowledge on this site so any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Changing the rockers will affect lift of the motor. With the size cam that you have I don't know if you will run into problems or not. That is something you would have to look into.

I'm trying to enhance the Comp XR269HR that I already have without having the engine torn apart again. I've spoken with Comp and there are no problems as I already have 918 springs and the cam lifts are .525 and .532. I realize that the overall gain is not tremendous with this mod. However, with my mods already in place the car is able to breathe very well. As I mentioned, my hope is to keep my low end and enhance the midrange through the top end by bolstering "under the curve" power and torque. The car is pretty quick now and I'm just trying give it a little more kick from midrange on up to make up for my gear swap from 3.73s to 3.42s.
